Data We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide the Service. Here's a breakdown:

- Detect distraction events and measure session completion accuracy
- Show you your focus history, streaks, and completion-rate statistics
- Improve the app based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns
- Comply with applicable law and prevent fraud
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
Who We Share Data With
We share your data only with trusted parties necessary to operate the Service:
- Firebase / Google: Used for authentication, crash reporting, and analytics. Data is anonymised and aggregated where possible.
- Cloud Infrastructure Providers: Used to securely host app services, databases, and backups.
- Legal authorities: Only when required by law, court order, or to protect user safety.
We never share, sell, or rent your personal data to marketers, advertisers, or data brokers. Ever.
Data Security
We take the security of your data seriously. Our protections include:
- Sensitive account data is encrypted and protected using industry-standard security practices
- Access to production systems is limited to engineers with a need-to-know basis
- Regular security audits and penetration testing (planned for post-beta)
No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a security breach affecting your data, we will notify you promptly in accordance with applicable law.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary:
- Account data: Until you delete your account, plus 30 days for recovery
- Session data: 12 months, then anonymised for aggregate analytics
- Crash logs: 90 days
When you delete your account, all personal data is deleted.
Cookies & Tracking
The Commit: Focus Timer mobile app does not use browser cookies. Our app uses the following equivalent technologies:
- App session tokens: Secure, encrypted tokens to keep you logged in
- Analytics identifiers: Anonymised device IDs used for aggregate product analytics. These cannot be used to personally identify you.
- Crash reporting: Automatic crash reports sent to our internal monitoring tools (anonymised)
If you visit our website, we may use essential cookies for functionality and anonymised analytics. No advertising cookies are used.
Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- Send a notification to your registered email address
- Display an in-app notification requiring acknowledgement for significant changes
Your continued use of Commit: Focus Timer after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If you disagree with changes, please delete your account before they take effect.
